On the whole, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is entertaining but it has its limitations because the post-interval portion is not as funny as it should’ve been. A slow start is another drawback. Of course, collections are bound to pick up, but a great kickstart would’ve greatly aided the business. Given the poor start, the film doesn’t seem to be an earning proposition.

This iteration of Pati Patni Aur Woh manages to convey two truths: one, Bollywood’s fictional heroines have evolved much faster than their male counterparts and two, film comedies that Mumbai churns out these days are no patch on the ones that the industry produced in earlier decades. Yet, this is a passable substitute for the real thing, which was far livelier and wittier.

Aziz also gently nudges, like in the 2019 film, towards how this is a society where Hindus and Muslims seamlessly blend together still, where a Pandey hangs together with a Khan and can ponder non-vegetarianism without a moral attack, and where an Abdul Mishra drops from the tongue effortlessly — not as fraught a relationship as they will have you believe.

Director Mudassar Aziz keeps things clean, simple and accessible. He does not attempt experimental storytelling or visual grandeur. The film knows exactly what it wants to be and sticks to it throughout.

And maybe that’s why this film feels refreshing. It entertains unapologetically. No social messaging hidden under ten layers. Just a genuinely funny film wanting audiences to sit back, laugh, and forget life for a while. And to be honest, that itself deserves applause.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do isn’t a flawless film but then again, it never pretends to be one. The makers commit to the madness with enough conviction to make much of it oddly enjoyable. At the heart of it is crackling chemistry between its ensemble, who collectively keeps the film buoyant even when the screenplay fumbles.

The film suffers from a vanilla first half. The situations are funny, and you feel like laughing out loud, but the unimpressive dialogue kills the fun. Thankfully, the movie redeems itself in the second half with a exceendlingly funny climax.At some point, you do remember Kartik Aaryan’s Pati Patni aur Woh, and miss it’s hilarious lines. You start comparing, and that isn’t a good sign.Pati Patni aur Woh Do is a family entertainer that rebrands the franchise for good. It’s a hilarious ride from start to end, made for family
